Destaques
Tatio Geysers Get ready to experience one of the most incredible adventures during your trip to the Atacama Desert. El Tatio, from the Kunza language “tata-iu,” meaning “The Crying Grandfather,” is one of the highest geothermal fields in the world, located at over 4,200 meters above sea level in the Andes mountains northeast of San Pedro de Atacama. With early morning temperatures reaching as low as -20°C, this natural spectacle reaches its peak between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m., when over 80 active geysers shoot jets of steam at temperatures up to 85°C, illuminated by the first rays of sunlight. This is not only the largest geyser field in the Southern Hemisphere, but also the third largest in the world, after Yellowstone (USA) and Dolina Giezerow (Russia). And the magic doesn’t stop there. On the way back, nature continues to surprise with sightings of vicuñas, llamas, rheas, vizcachas, and more. The highland flora also stands out with giant cacti, llaretas, and coirón. From a scenic viewpoint, we’ll observe the ancestral village of Machuca, where locals still dedicate themselves to herding and artisanal cheese-making. Nearby, the Salty Lagoon is home to flamingos, ducks, and gulls, offering a breathtaking and unforgettable landscape.
